ROCHESTER, N.Y. (November 22, 2010) – The Buddy System, an ice cream cone holder that reduces messy drips and sticky hands, will be served in more than 450 Galardi Group restaurants, including Wienerschnitzel, the Original Hamburger Stands and Tastee Freez ice cream shops, announced Robert C. Sotile, president and CEO of The Buddy Cone Systems, Inc.
“The only way to improve a soft-serve ice cream cone is to present it to the customer in a Buddy System cone,” Mr. Sotile said. “Tastee Freez is an iconic American company, and we are proud that the Buddy System will enhance the customers' ice cream eating experience there and at more than 450 Galardi Group restaurants.”
Designed as a food safety device to provide a barrier between dirty hands, airborne germs and the edible ice cream cone, the polystyrene sheath also features a reservoir to catch drips and reduce the need for paper napkins. Almost 35 million Buddies are distributed globally each year, making it the most popular food safety product for frozen confections in the world. See Photo.
Sotile said his product creates drip-free zones for restuarants, contributing to cleanliness, cost savings and the ultimate in customer satisfaction.
The Galardi Group, based in Irvine, Calif., operates more than 350 Wienerschnitzel locations and 225 for Tastee Freez in 23 states.
Patented in 1998, the Buddy System won the 2001 Ameristar Award as North America's best food safety product, and now serves customers in 14 countries at thousands of ice cream single-unit and chain stores, including Dairy Queen, Carvel, Stew Leonard's, Subway, Royal Caribbean's Oasis cruise ship, and Culver's Butter Burgers and Frozen Custard. The Buddy System was served at Super Bowl XLIV, and various stadiums and arenas. Company headquarters and manufacturing are in Rochester, N.Y.
