QUICKPURE™ COUNTERTOP WATER PURIFICATION
TAKES ON $11-BILLION BOTTLED WATER INDUSTRY

ALAB to License Technology for Revolutionary Home Appliance
That Reduces Plastic Water Bottle Flow to Nation’s Waste Stream

(RUSH, N.Y. – August 20, 2008) Alab LLC’s QuickPure™ counter top water purifier technology, that miniaturizes the ozone process used to make commercial bottled water, is now available for licensing to small appliance manufacturers seeking to capitalize on the $11-billion bottled water industry and to reduce the flow of nearly 30 billion plastic water containers clogging U.S. landfills each year. ALAB Owner Alan Burris announced that this breakthrough technology is seeking licensees or joint ventures to make its QuickPure units available nationwide or globally.

QuickPure is a low-cost, consumer friendly, small automatic electric home appliances that can purify one gallon of tap water for 2 cents in less than three minutes. Ordinary slow counter top filters can improve taste but QuickPure™ improves taste, kills germs and removes contaminants without waiting.
Interest in healthier lifestyles in recent years has pushed bottled water sales in the U.S. alone to more than $11 billion.

Critics of bottled water cite environmental and expense issues while seeking viable alternatives. It is expensive, requires trucking or transport to deliver, requires a consumer trip to purchase, takes up storage space for full and empty bottles and can be inconvenient. Recalls have resulted from contamination. And recently, concern about climate change due to global warming has increased negative publicity about environmental issues. The bottles are made from scarce oil, consume a great amount of energy to produce, and generate carbon dioxide in the manufacture and transportation of bottles and bottled water.

Mr. Burris says industry experts estimate that only 20 percent of the 38 billion empty bottles are recycled, creating solid waste and litter problems.

“Bottled water is not a green product,” Mr. Burris says. “QuickPure™ can eliminate
millions of plastic bottles from the waste stream as well as saving consumers time and money and providing convenient unlimited supplies of great tasting purified drinking water.”
