MISTER SOFTEE BECOMES MISTER SAFETY WITH THE BUDDY SYSTEM

900 Soft-Serve Ice Cream Trucks to Use Cone Product for Hygienic Service

( ROCHESTER , N.Y. – Aug. 1, 2008) Mister Softee Ice Cream trucks, a symbol of summertime fun for New York City and much of the Northeast, has adopted the Buddy System for the best possible ice cream cone hygiene, announced Robert Sotile, inventor and president of the Buddy System. More than 900 trucks will now serve Mister Softee soft-serve ice cream with the recyclable polystyrene cone holders that reduce the risk of bacteria and germs being transferred to your ice cream cone, while also catching drips from the melting frozen treat.

“Mister Softee joins an esteemed group of ice cream vendors who value customer service and food safety over everything else,” Mr. Sotile said. “We are proud to have the Buddy System associated with a brand as strong as Mister Softee.”

The Buddy System was first introduced 10 years ago as a food safety and customer convenience product that provides a barrier to prevent germ transmission from dirty hands or gloves to the ice cream cone, while also enhancing the ice cream experience by keeping hands and clothes free from sticky, dripping ice cream, frozen custard or frozen yogurt.

Mr. Sotile estimates the Mr. Softee contract will yield annual sales of nearly 50,000 cases of the Buddy System. Last year, more than 60 million Buddy System cones were distributed through thousands of retail outlets across the United States and in 12 foreign countries. Since 1998, more than 200 million Buddy System cones have been shipped from the company's Rochester , N.Y. manufacturing plant.

“The more that people become familiar with the Buddy System as customers, the more desirable it is for companies and franchise operations like Mister Softee to meet customer needs for a fun, clean and safe way to enjoy their frozen dairy products. Mister Softee began serving ice cream in 1956, and it shows that companies with a high regard for customer satisfaction have that longevity.”

The Buddy System has become a feature for five of the oldest chain restaurants selling ice cream in America :

Carvel founded 1934
Dairy Queen 1940
Mr. Softee 1956
Stew Leonard's 1969
Culver's 1984

Buddies are manufactured in four different sizes and shapes to accommodate almost every cone. The Buddy System Cone Company, with offices in Brighton , N.Y. , can be reached on the internet at www.buddysystemusa.com or by phone at (585) 427-9940.
