SATURDAYS ARE A PERFECT DAY FOR “SERANITY NOW”

Penfield Self-Help Experts to Host 2 p.m. Program on 990 AM

Seran and John Wilkie return to the Rochester airwaves Saturday, June 21, with an hour-long self-help show called “Seranity Now,” which will air weekly on WRCI-AM 990 beginning at 2 p.m.

Seran-ity is the name being given to Seran's brand of self-empowerment, which reduces guilt, fear and anxiety in everyday life. The radio program, “Seranity Now,” focuses on ways to make bad days disappear.

“Too often, we zone in on our bad days,” Seran says. “We wear a bad day like a badge of honor, instead of starting with the thought of making it a good day. On ‘Seran-ity Now', we'll explore ways to take ‘bad' situations and turn then into the basis for success and fulfillment.”

Each week, the show consists of three segments: achieving satisfaction and fulfillment in everyday life; reducing stress and anxiety associated with elder care; and “Tool Time,” which provides easy-to-implement techniques to achieve that week's objectives. The debut hour will feature elder-care expert April Oakes , Assistant Director for the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Services. Call-ins from listeners are encouraged at (585) 222-2990.

Seran's most recent book, titled “What A Day!”, illustrates how well-intentioned people permit negativity to intrude on an otherwise perfect day. The anger and frustration may be avoided, Seran shows, by changing ones perceptions of events, even when the event itself may not be avoided.

John suggested that few life situations carry as much frustration as elder care.

“You've got the trifecta,” he says. “There's pain, because somebody you love is in a bad way. There's frustration, because the people you expect to be helping aren't, and others may be meddling in ways you don't want them to. Then, there's guilt, because you think you should be doing more, or you're doing too much and neglecting other people in your life. It seems like a no-win situation, but we're betting Seran-ity will help our listeners to find satisfaction in their lives, despite this or other circumstances.”
