(ROCHESTER, N.Y. – June 16, 2008) Lawns and gardens are getting a healthy boost this year with the emergence of Organix Magix as a green industry replacement for chemical fertilizers and plant foods. Magix™ Soil Amendment and Magix™ Worm-Ade Liquid Plant Food are all-natural products approved for organic farming and gardening, made from worm castings.
About 30 Upstate New York garden centers and greenhouses now carry the product, in addition to landscapers who are buying it by the ton in bulk, says Bob Jamieson of AbsorbTech, LLC, the Webster-based exclusive distributor for the Organix Magix brand. With consumer demand growing exponentially for new worm-casting products, retailers are scurrying to find reliable manufacturers to meet the demand, he said.
“Our worms have been busy,” Mr. Jamieson said. “The Organix Magix Soil Amendment manufacturing takes eight months from start to finish. Other worm casting products are made in one month, but they end up containing a lot of filler. For the Magix product, the worms have enough time to fully convert compost to a rich, blackish-brown consistency that is high in carbon and all the nutrients that help plants to prosper.”
He differentiated the product from vermicompost (worm compost) because there is very little compost left that hasn’t been processed by the worms. Mr. Jamieson explained that the liquid Worm-Ade is a by-product. A special filtration process allows liquid waste from the worms to be collected, after it becomes a highly concentrated source of the same nutrients in the soil amendment. Magix Worm-Ade can be used for foliar feeding, which may be a more convenient and effective application method for some organic gardeners.
The product has been used by Marcus Whitman High School to remedy wear and tear on the playing field turf, and by Wegmans Organic Farms, Lucas Greenhouses and others.
What Magix Does
Magix Soil Amendment and Liquid Worm-Ade achieve the following:
• Immediately provide nutrients and trace minerals to the plant necessary for healthy cell structure.
• Enhance the soil, by adding naturally occurring elements such as humic acid, folic acid and ionized nutrients that build the soil structure
• Improves root mass of desirable plants. Grass, barley and other vegetation have been shown to grow deeper roots four times as large as those grown in untreated soil. For those seeking a weed-free lawn, the roots of the grass form a horizontal wall that crowds out weeds and undesirable growth.
• Improves water retention. Plants are better able to withstand hot, summer weather and drought with Magix Soil Amendment and Liquid Worm-Ade.
• It's a safe alternative to chemical fertilizers and other store-bought products because it's totally safe for children and pets.
Going to School with Organix Magix
In regions where the product is in especially high demand, Organix Magix has begun contracting with universities with agricultural programs to install worm trenches which will be harvested by the students. University tie-ins will help Organix Green Industries to ensure product consistency while providing a new study module for participating colleges.
“We know why Organix Magix worm casting products work,” Mr. Jamieson said. “We just don’t know why they work to the extraordinary degree they do. It makes sense that our presence on the university campuses might find some more answers.”
“Every Bag is Alive!”
Organix Magix revitalizes the soil with nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, manganese, zinc, cobalt, sulfur and boron, while adding ionic carbon, humus and aerobic microbes that you can’t get with chemical fertilizers.
“Every bag is alive,” Jamieson explains. “It’s not like one of those 1-2-3-4 programs, where you are increasing the N-P-K values until the plants use them up again. Organix Magix soil amendment changes the ecosystem of the soil so that it will continue to support amazing plant growth for years, with proper upkeep.”
Organix Magix soil amdendment comes in 8-quart bags or 16-quart bags. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $11.95 and $19.95, respectively. Organix Magix Liquid Worm-Ade Plant Food comes in a one gallon container with an MSRP of $23.95. Both products are available in bulk for landscapers, property maintenance firms and turf farms. Each of the Organix Magix products is highly concentrated, and it is recommended they be mixed or diluted.
The product is supported with colorful product information brochures and a professional product module for retailers and landscapers, researched and designed by Gleason Public Relations of Rochester. The company website contains a wealth of information at www.OrganixMagix.com .
