U.S. PIZZA TEAM ANNOUNCES U.S. TOUR SCHEDULE

Audiences Love Their Tossing and Saucing in the U.S. and Overseas

OXFORD, MISS. (May 16, 2008) – Fresh from its medal-winning success at a world competition in Paris, France, the U.S. Pizza Team will criss-cross the nation in its never-ending quest to promote pizza, the craft of pizza making and the entertainment value of the $32-billion industry. The U.S. Pizza Team is a group of pizza makers and dough acrobats whose goal is to bring world attention to the talent and camaraderie of the pizza industry. Dough acrobats? Pizza spinning is rapidly becoming a popular spectator activity throughout the United States, as evidenced by major media coverage of the team at the New York Pizza Show in March, and the team’s growing slate of appearances for the spring and summer. Individual and team acrobatics consist of pizza athletes performing jumps, flips, rolls and passes while keeping their dough spinning and often accompanied by music, costumes and theatrical props. Some or all of the U.S. Pizza Team members will embark on adventures across the U.S., which include stops in major cities during the next several months:

9th Street Italian Market Festival, May 17-18, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Summer in Little Italy, May 24-26, New York, New York
Chicago Pizza Fest, June 21-22, Chicago, Illinois
Festa Italiana, July 17-20, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Indy Italian Festival, June 13-14, Indianapolis, Indiana
Italian Heritage Festival, July 17-20, Buffalo, New York

With 15 members in all, the team tosses, sauces and spins with the best of the best in an effort to retain their titles of Best Pizza Maker, Largest Dough Stretch, Best Freestyle Dough Tosser and Fastest Pizza Maker. They’ve recently appeared on Good Morning America, Live with Regis and Kelly, the Today Show and Good Morning America, as well as in the pages of Fortune Small Business, New York Daily News, Orlando Sentinel and press in Finland, Germany and France.
In Paris recently for a competition, team member Scott Childers said, “The Paris people love the pizza spinning. We tore the town up and the cops even shimmied us off the streets because we were drawing too big of a crowd.”
The team is always grateful to their generous sponsors who make it possible for them to travel the world spreading the word about everyone’s favorite food. This year’s U.S. Pizza Team Gold Sponsors include Bolla Wine, California Milk Advisory Board, La Nova, Throw Dough and Paradise Tomato Kitchens. Silver Sponsors include Bag Solutions, Fontanini, Marsal & Sons, Pizza Equipment Supply, Roma and F&A Dairy Products.
