U.S. PIZZA TEAM ENLISTS ROCHESTER PR FIRM

Gleason Public Relations Selected to Sling Some Saucy PR
for America’s Best Pizza Makers and New York Pizza Show

Rochester, NY (Feb. 26, 2008) -- On the strength of the promotion for the 2007 Pizza All-Stars in Rochester, Gleason Public Relations has earned the account for the U.S. Pizza Team, headquartered in Oxford, Miss.

Led by Kerry Gleason, whose food and beverage experience spans 24 years, Gleason PR will promote the New York Pizza Show and International Restaurant and Foodservice Show at the Jacob Javits Conference Center in New York City March 9 to 12. Gleason PR’s duties will be to orchestrate media relations with local and national TV, print and broadcast outlets.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to work with the U.S. Pizza Team in New York, and later in March, in Paris. We saw how they energize crowds with their acrobatic pizza spinning, and envision some great exposure for the team,” Gleason said.

The U.S. Pizza Team is selected each year from competitions in New York and at the American Pizza Championships in Orlando, Florida. Top pizza makers in the United States vie for the right to represent America in international competitions, and then promote pizza making at events across the country throughout the year. The United States hauled in the Gold Medal for Team Acrobatics at last year’s World Championships in Italy. Following the selection process at the New York Pizza Show on March 9, a new team will defend its world title in Paris beginning March 26.

The New York Pizza Show takes place within walking distance of Little Italy, where pizza was first introduced to the United States. Pizza makers from all over the world, including China, Finland and Luxembourg, will compete against the best in the U.S. for the America’s Cup at this prestigious event.

Gleason, 47, is an award winning journalist and public relations executive who has made his mark on the food and beverage industry (Wendy’s International, Coca-Cola, the Buddy System and others), medical and health care (Johnson & Johnson), internet marketing and consulting for more than 150 clients and with hundreds of entrepreneurial start-ups. In 2007, he launched Pizza All-Stars™ as a fundraiser to help the ALS Association fight Lou Gehrig’s Disease. The St. Bonaventure graduate calls Irondequoit his home, and when he’s not working off pizza calories, he writes screenplays, articles for publication and enjoys a wide variety of international culture, as long as it’s from Ireland.
